Results!

I did the work, now I get to see the results!!!!

Weigh-in today:

Weigh in days are the best.....especially when you know you've worked your butt off to see the number fall.

This week, Christmas week, will be tough but I know I have the willpower to reign in my sweet tooth.  Do you?  Good luck!

Food for thought.....

If you want the results, you've got to do the work!!!!

This is something I've been telling myself all day today!

See....I've got oodles of candy, gingerbread houses, caramel popcorn, cookies, pie, you name it.....it's all sitting in my house, staring me in the face, daring me to taste.

And I'm not gonna lie.....while helping my boys with their gingerbread houses today, I licked frosting off my fingers, and even ate 2 pieces of candy, but what's more important is that I stopped myself, and for that I'm very proud of myself.  In the past, I would've kept eating.....sugar is my weakness.

I am loving the way I am feeling!  I love how much confidence I have in myself because I'm showing self-control and determination.

My workouts at Crossfit the past week have improved in endurance and I know that it's because my body isn't laden with junk.

I love that I still feel like I'm living and not completely voiding my life of comfort foods.  Yes, I eat a slice of bread now and then (this morning I ate a slice with my egg white omelet....so yummy!).

I guess I'm just very happy with new habits I'm forming and the results that I'm seeing!

Speaking of results, take a look at my inches lost last week:

Love ME!

Drum roll please!!!!!

Last week's weight: 186.2 lbs.
This week's weight: 178.4 lbs.

Weigh in was this morning........I am down almost 8 pounds!!!!!  I am super stoked and super motivated to keep going!  Although, right now, I have a counter full of Christmas treats just staring me in the face.....it is kind of hard to resist, but I don't want to screw my momentum up.  I can be strong and resist some sugar!

A new "weight loss challenge"

Yep, that's right....I'm doing a new weight loss challenge.  It started today.  My sister and her Herbalife Wellness Coach are heading it up.

I am stoked!  So excited to start a new journey!

I am ready to prove to myself that I can lose these last 36 pounds!

We had our initial weigh-in this morning, and since I am participating from out of the area, I send my weigh-ins via text:

This number is by far the ugliest number I have seen in a year.  And I was very depressed and frustrated with myself this morning for letting this number creep back up.

But.....

.....I am proud of myself for taking this step and joining this challenge (even with all my fear and insecurities) to better myself.

this was my workout this morning....

And I'm trying to add eggs into my breakfast (eggs are not my favorite).....this is one way I've found that I can actually stand them.....with green peppers, onions, and spinach.

Friday Weigh-Day

Previous weight: 181.4
Today's weight: 181.6

Well, I didn't lose anything this week, but it was a terrible week for me.  I've been sick all week, still am, but I'm doing better.

I had a major victory today.  I was grocery shopping and PASSED OVER THE OREOS AND CANDY BARS!  Usually, during my shopping trips, I would pick up a few candy bars to stash in my purse for when I needed a pick me up.  Not this time.  In fact, I stayed within my calorie limit today, had a treat tonight (caramel popcorn) and now I'm gonna keep trudging along.

I'm trying to learn the difference between hunger and thirst...and I'm trying to teach my children that difference too.

Don't Give Up

Didn't eat the best foods today, but I stayed under calories.  And every inch of me wants to eat a package of oreos or a pan of brownies, but I'm holding strong.  You can too!!

I think I may stop posting what I'm eating everyday.  If you're one of the 2 that read this blog, leave a comment if you like to see what I'm eating.  Otherwise, I'll just be posting my weigh-in's and occasional motivation.

Almost feeling better...

Been wondering where I've been?  I was struck down with the worst head cold ever.  Lots of coughing, stuffy nose, trouble breathing at night, weakness, and pure loss of motivation.

But, tonight, I'm back.  I tracked all day (even that cookie that I ate).  I'm forgoing the notebook paper tracking....it was just taking too long.....and I'm simply tracking on my LoseIt App on my phone.  So, here's the pictures from my phone:

Just to clarify, you'll notice that I don't track my exercise.  Some people exercise and then add calories back in to their diet to make up for that, I don't.  So, yes, I did exercise this morning, although I probably shouldn't have because I was sick.

Day 7-I'm sick

Sick mommy makes for very little motivation :(

I hope I feel better soon.....

Day 6 & Weigh-In

Previous Week's weigh-in: 184
Today's weigh-in: 181.4

I know I said that I would be weighing in on Saturday mornings, but I've changed that.  I've come to learn about myself that I like to take it easy on Friday nights.  And tonight was no different.  My boys had cousins over and we went out and partied!  Out to dinner then a movie......and there were plenty of treats involved :)

So, here it is, my day's journal.  I tracked for breakfast and lunch, then I didn't worry about it because it was my cheat night.  Which, sadly, means that I need to stay on track the rest of the weekend.  It will be hard but worth it!

Oh, but the good news!!!!  I'm down 2 1/2 pounds!!!!!!!

Day 5-Post Halloween and didn't eat one piece of candy

my lunch today.....I only ate 1 slice of turkey, 2 was just too much for me

Well....I tracked....everything I ate today is on this paper, even the Arctic Circle ice cream cone that I thoroughly enjoyed with my boys :)  I'm not perfect, especially in this weight loss thing, but I'm getting better and that's what counts.

Fun little useless fact.....(or maybe not so useless)

Lately, I've been having these strange headache type pains, but it wasn't really a headache.  It was a continuous dull pain that just baffled me.  I started looking at my diet to see if anything I was eating could be causing the problem.  Then one day, I looked at the ingredients of the gum I chew religiously......

Guess what this gum has in it?.........Aspartame

Now, admittedly, I don't know all the facts about Aspartame, just that it is a sweetener that is about 40 times sweeter than normal table sugar, but I stopped chewing this gum and I no longer have that dull pain in my head.

I will have to do more research on this sweetener, but I thought I'd share with you.....

Day 4-Halloween bust

my breakfast this morning

okay, so, let's just say that today was Halloween and I lived it up.  I did great at tracking for my meals (except for dinner)......but I also enjoyed the holiday by stealing candy out of my kids' baskets :)

Tomorrow is back on track.....

Food for thought...

Sometimes I get caught up in wanting immediate results and I tend to feel like this a lot when I begin a new lifestyle.  It's important to remember that things don't happen overnight....in fact, it'll take months before anyone will notice a difference....just keep pushing on!

Day 3!

Hahaha!  Sometimes I feel like this is how I look!

Day 2 of "back on track"

I had a mini victory tonight!  I made hot chocolate for my boys for their late night treat, and before I came to the computer to type this post, I went to heat some up for me.  Then I thought, "I'm gonna have to write this down in food journal.  Nevermind."

That was definitely a victory for me!

*sigh*

It's literally been months since I've truly worked hard on my diet.....and my weight shows it.  I don't even care to say how much I've gained.....but what matters is that I have a desire to get down again.

Losing weight is hard.....so hard.....it takes so much discipline, calculated eating, thought, planning, and motivation.  Most mornings I know I have what it takes, but by the time lunch rolls around, I waiver and then by dinner I lose my motivation.

Today was a new day though.......I had to talk myself out of many snacks, that was hard, but I'm happy to say that I stuck to my plan.

So here's the deal.....every night I will be posting a picture of what I ate during the day.  This will keep me honest, especially with all 2 of you that read this blog.

I will weigh myself once a week, Saturday mornings, and post that here too.

My starting over weight is 184.....by Thanksgiving I want to be down to 174.  By this next Saturday I want to be down to 180.

Oh yeah, and my goal is to stay under 1500 calories.  I chose 1500 because I do pretty hard workouts during the week and I burn quite a few calories.  I don't want to starve myself, and I know that if I feel hungry at all, I will break and want to snack more, hence the 1500 calorie limit.

Friday Weigh-Day

It's that time again.....and honestly, I was dreading this weigh day all week.  I was just not feeling the healthy eating thing.  Sometimes I have weeks like that, don't you?????  Some weeks I just can't get enough sweets (terrible for me I know).  But ya know, sometimes you just have to get it out of your system (the splurging I mean) and turn your focuses on a new week.  That's what I did.

So, when I stepped on the scale this morning (after my last chance crossfit workout and after mowing the lawn) I was more than surprised to see that the number had actually dropped from last week.

What??????????

I have no idea what I did to deserve that but it made my day nonetheless.

Previous weight:  167.6
Current weight: 166.8

I'll take that.  Even if it is less than a pound.  I thought for sure that I had gained 3 pounds.

(And in case you were wondering......that little weight loss challenge I'm having with my hubby.....I beat him again.....shhhhhhh)

Friday Weigh-Day

Previous weight: 170.4
Current weight: 167.6

I lost almost 3 pounds and my hubby lost 1.

sled pushes and new weight loss challenge

Friday weigh-day June 15th: 170.4 lbs

My hubby, who is currently deployed, and I are engaging in a cutthroat friendly weight-loss competition!  I know that I can beat him!  I lost my momentum about 3 weeks ago and I've been sailing along not worrying about what I'm eating, (and just to be clear, I think every diet needs that), but I also think that life shouldn't be a diet, it should be a healthy eating lifestyle, so that's what I'm trying to transition into.  I'm trying to distinguish between my body telling me it's hungry and my body telling me it really is hungry!

So there's really nothing special about how I'm losing weight, just the basics:

*drink lots of water
*eat an abundance of fruits and veggies
*eat lean meats (ground turkey, chicken, fish)
*I even get a popcycle every now and then!
*limited cheese and dairy (no milk; I use almond milk)  I've almost completely switched my family over to almond milk because my kids have been showing signs of allergies to dairy.
*very limited breads and pastas (I only myself a heavenly slice of whole grain bread every now and then)

And my workouts are just as fun as ever!!!!!!  I absolutely love Crossfit and if it wasn't for my amazing friend, Debbie, introducing me to it almost 2 1/2 years ago, I don't know where I would be today.  It has transformed my way of working out and my outlook on fitness!

My kids always accompany me to my class and just the other day they got to participate in our sled pushes!  It was a blast and the kids thought so too:

discipline out the window

somehow I lost all motivation and discipline this past weekend and today.  *sigh*

I was doing so good staying in my zone....

Thank goodness for new days that give us a fresh start....

I've tasted my bread....I've tasted the mac & cheese.....I've tasted the chips.....and I've tasted the cookies.

I told you, I've been terrible.

Tonight I'm starting anew.

It's time to get back to business.

Friday Weigh-Day

Previous Weight: 170.8 lbs
Current Weight: 168.2 lbs

This feels amazing!!!!  Amazing!!!  My clothes are fitting looser, my runs are getting easier, my workouts are still hard, but I can feel I'm stronger and leaner and moving faster...

Motivation:

And yes, tonight is cheat night, and I have every intention of cheating.....don't know what I'm going to have yet, but I'm cheating and I'm going to enjoy it!

Thursday, May 24, 2012

seriously...

Well, tomorrow is weigh-day, and honestly, right now, I'm feeling like this:

Weight loss is hard work!!!!!!!  I got to cheat a little last Friday night, and heaven knows I'm looking forward to tomorrow's cheat night, but since last Friday night, I've only splurged on 2 chocolate chip cookies that we had for Family Home Evening.  I would say I'm doing pretty dang good!  And I'm pretty darn proud of myself too!!!!!!!!!  Stay tuned tomorrow and we'll see if I drop below 170!

Monday, May 21, 2012

It paid off!

Well, as of this morning, Monday morning, I'm at 170.4.

On Friday morning, I decided that I was going to cheat for dinner and a treat.  And cheat I did, Cafe Rio Salad and ice cream.  But I told myself that I COULD NOT cheat Saturday and Sunday.

AND I DIDN'T!!!!!

There were plenty of chances to fudge a little here and there, but I stayed strong and my weight this morning was worth it.

60 day challenge

I've been doing some thinking...dangerous I know....I haven't done some real thinking in almost 10 years.  That's when I got married and started being a mommy, no more college which means no more thinking.

Anyway, I really need to speed up this weight loss thing.  I really want to be at a goal weight of 150 pounds by the time my family reunion comes the end of July.....

So I've decided to do a 60 days challenge, starting tomorrow, May 14th and going until Thursday July 12th.  I am allowing myself 5 free days.  Which means I'm going to have to pick and choose carefully which days I want to forget the diet.

My mother's day was absolutely wonderful, filled with delicious foods and no diets.  And I don't regret it.  Not at all.  I chose to fully enjoy my day with no reservations.

So here's to 60 days.......

Friday Weigh Day

Last week's weight: 172.8
This week's weight: 171

DOWN!

I didn't quite make my 170 goal, but I know exactly why....I cheated way too much last weekend and ended up putting on almost 3 pounds over the weekend.  I was horrified!  I worked extra hard this past week to get it back down and I did it!

I allowed myself a free night tonight, because I believe it helps to remind you why you are changing your lifestyle, because all that crap really is just crap.  And it makes you feel like crap too!

And just in case you were wondering what fat loss looks like, check this photo out:

Isn't that incredible!?  I'm happy with my weight loss and I'm so excited to start clean tomorrow and continue to work toward my goals!

Sunday, May 6, 2012

Geez!

Why do I do this to myself?  Every weekend?  I promise myself that I'm not going to over-indulge, but I still do!

Gah!!!!!

Granted, I didn't do as terrible this weekend as I did last weekend, but I still cheated too much!

I have a goal and I'm going to reach that goal.....but it'll be hard work!

Bring it on!

Friday Weigh-Day....

Well, this morning was weigh-day.

Now, last weekend I splurged big time and I paid for it.  On last Friday's weigh-day, I was at 174.8.  Well, I weighed myself on the Monday morning after weigh-day and I was back up to 176.  I was disgusted with myself.  I had totally let myself go all weekend long and it felt horrible.  I promised myself I wouldn't do that again.  So, I worked my butt off this week.  I did Crossfit 4 days, and started my 5k running program (since I've kind of gotten out of running shape :(....)  So I now crossfit Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and do running Wednesday & Saturday.  It's a great program and I love having something to do every single day.  Although yes, it is harder to get my butt out of bed on those running days because it means I have to come up with my own workout.

Anyway, I'm blabbering.......

This morning, I weighed in at 172.8.  Which means......I made my goal.....kind of....at least I'm counting it.

I'm allowing myself Friday night's to splurge.  And I did tonight.  Rolo's and Applebee's for dinner with my boys.  But that's it.  Tomorrow morning I'm right back on.

Actually, I feel like crap right now.  All that sugar and processed foods is making me tired and bloated and just not feeling right.  It's amazing what healthy food can do for your energy and mood.

Goal for next Friday weigh-day.....170!

Let's make it happen!

Great Reminder for me!

Friday Weigh-Day

Okay, so I know I've been saying that I'll be weighing in on Saturday mornings, but I changed my mind, a girl is allowed to do that you know.  I'm gonna weigh in on Friday mornings.  I'm finding that after having eating well all week, by the time Friday gets here, I'm jonesing for something sweet, a chill day.  So, I weighed in this morning at............

174.6

My goal was 175 and I made it!!!!!!

So, my goal for next Friday is......172.

Thursday, April 26, 2012

Quick Update...

At the beginning of the week, I made a goal to be at 175 lbs by Saturday's weigh-in.....guess what???  I'm below that!!  Stay tuned for the actual number on Saturday!!!!

Life Changes is good!!!!!!

I'm Baaaaaaccckkk!!!

It feels so good to say that I'm back on track and doing great!  I've been following the paleo diet almost strictly (I have a cheese stick and a yogurt every day) for over a week now.  I've lost 6 pounds doing it!  It feels amazing to have a purpose and a goal in mind.  My goal right now is to be at 140 pounds by the time my husband returns from Afghanistan!  Doable?  Heck yes!  Am I determined?  Heck yes!  Something just clicked inside me, and don't ask me what it was, but it clicked.  I re-focused my eating, I got my priorities straight, I swallowed my excuses, and I'm getting to work!

Let's take a look back shall we????

This is me and my hubby at our heaviest.....and I know my hubby will kill me for posting this but he's come a long way too :)

And this is me and my hubby right before he left for Afghanistan......that's 38 pounds gone!  I was down 48 pounds, but some crept back on.....that tends to happen when you lose focus.

And it wouldn't be a weight loss post if I didn't share some words of encouragement....I think I'm gonna start an encouragement board.....write these quotes on post its and pin them up!

Saturday, February 25, 2012

*sigh*

I have sat down at this computer at least 4 times in the past 2 months to write this post.  I've been wanting to get back on track with my eating but my willpower and determination has not been there.  I'm fed up.  I'm sick of weighing myself and watching the numbers creep back up.  I'm fooling myself thinking I can have the junk food in the house and be able to resist it.  It's not true.  I just can't do it.  I'm a complete "sugarholic".  I will be allowing myself one cheat day a week.  That day may change from week to week depending on what my week looks like.  If I stay under my calories for the day, of course I will allow myself a small treat at night, like popcorn or one of those weight watchers fudge popcycles.  Baby steps people!  I'm still doing crossfit every single day and I love it, but I know I can do better if I stick to a diet.  So, instead of rambling on and on, let's do this.  Do you need to recommit?  Join me!  I'm on MyFitnessPal now!
