Back to the Basics!

First of all, I can't believe I'm going to post some of this stuff, but I really want this blog to be honest and completely real.....so with that being said, here goes.

Back in April, I won the Biggest Loser and was at my lowest weight of 161 pounds.  Well, now, about 3 months later, I am back up to 175.  I gained 14 pounds in a short 12 weeks.  Embarrassing.  Like I said, I want to keep this blog real.  I could've just acted like everything was perfect and I was still at my all-time low, but it's not.

Life has a way of hitting you in the butt when you don't pay attention.  I've been using the excuse, "I just want to enjoy life."  "I want to be able to eat what I want during the summer....it's funner that way."  I've lived with this mentality for 3 months now and what do I have to show for it?  14 pounds!  Tonight, I decided it's time to get back to the basics, and start over with what has worked for me in the past.

When I lost all my weight for the Biggest Loser contest, I followed the Zone Diet very strictly.  It worked for me and I loved the diet.  I'm not going back to the Zone, well, not completely.  I feel like I know what foods I can eat.  The basic that I am going back to is writing down everything I will eat the next day, the night before.  I did this when I first started the Biggest Loser Diet and it worked wonders.  Being a mom of 3 kids and a wife to a wonderful man, there's not a lot of time for counting calories and thinking during the day, so that's why this works for me.  If I have a list right there in front of me, I don't have to think.  So my plan is to sit down for 10 minutes every night and write down my menu for the next day.  This is the only change I am making this week.  Next week I will work on a new change, but for now I'd like to get this one down pat.

Keep following me and keep me honest.  I'll be weighing-in every Saturday morning.  I'm setting my 2 week goal right here on this blog, right now:

In 2 weeks, by Saturday, August 13th, I want to have lost 6 pounds.  I want to weigh-in at 169!  If I make that goal, I'm not going to reward myself with food, I'm going to reward myself with a new shirt!  I love clothes shopping and I desperately need some updated clothes.  So there you have it!  Goal set!

Motivation

I realize I haven't been dedicated enough to this blog, and I want to be better.  I've been shocked at the people that have told me that they read my blog and that it motivates them to make a change in their life.  Seriously?  Me?  I motivate people?  I have a hard time motivating myself most days.  Most people, and even my husband, think that it is easy for me to get out of bed every morning at 5:15 and go to crossfit, so religiously.  It's not.  But, I do it every day because I love the feeling I get and the sense of accomplishment I feel after every workout.  I love pushing myself in my crossfit workouts, and granted, I am terrified to push myself in some areas for fear that I will humiliate myself.

When I first started crossfit, I used to only be able to do the WOD (Workout of the day) and then I was so exhausted I couldn't do any kind of exercise the rest of the day.  Today, I did the WOD and then went for a 3 1/2 mile speed walk around my neighborhood.  I can totally feel the change my body has taken in the past year.  I have more energy.  I have more confidence.  I am not as scared to try new things.  Not as scared of what other people will think of me.  I could go on and on.  But most importantly, I have energy to play with my boys, to help make their lives (and mine) more full and fun!

It's 8:00 a.m., and now that my workout for the day is done, I have the entire day to relax, play, craft, swim, clean (of course...I am a mom), and maybe sneak in a nap ;)

There are a few things that have been motivating me lately......I have been listening to podcasts lately, one in particular, Two Fit Chicks and a Microphone.  There are so many motivating words on there.  The other thing that motivates me lately, is other weight-loss blogs.  I love hearing about other people's trials and pitfalls and accomplishments.  And I love how we're all human and slip up sometimes, but what's important is that we get right back on track.

So, I'm off to have my handful of almonds and my protein shake (probably my favorite breakfast).

I did it!!!

I ran my first 5k this morning in a time of 35:07! I'm so dang proud of myself!!!! I did have to stop 3 or 4 times and walk for a few minutes, but I finished running hard!!! I could really get addicted to running 5k's....it's an adrenaline rush! I can only imagine how marathon runners feel after finishing 26 miles!!!!

grinning from ear to ear!

I just have to post about my huge accomplishment today.  I woke up early and decided to go for a 5 mile run/walk.  I did my warm up of 1/2 a mile, then I started running, and just kept running.  I felt so good.  I ran my first mile in 11:12, my fastest time since I started this whole weight-loss thing.  I was way pumped about that.  Then I walked for half a mile, then started running again.  And I just kept running.  I ended up doing 6 1/2 miles and only walked about 2 miles of that.  I was literally shocked out of my mind.  When did I get strong enough to run that much?  I have no idea, but it feels so good!!!!!!!!  It makes me want to get up early tomorrow morning and see how far I can go without walking.  I'm getting closer to my 5K dream!!!!!!!
