Bland.....

Let's be honest here, food that is "fat free" or "low in fat" just doesn't taste as good! But I'm trying to face the facts and realize that if I want to lose weight, I have to stick to the "low fat" foods! Some of my favorites are:

Cheez-its-(just bought the "low fat" kind)
Hot Tomales-(if any of you have found a "low fat" variety, please let me know)

And a few of my new favorite veggies:

Red Peppers
celery
Cucumbers on sandwiches
beans on salads

It's finally clicked!!!!

Yes, it's finally clicked in my stubborn head! I can't pin it on one thing or one event, but just in the past 2 weeks, my body has started thinking again! It all started 2 weeks ago when Jamen and I both knew we needed to crack down and work harder to get our bodies in shape. So, I threw out my dinner plan, and started new with healthy recipes. By healthy I mean lots of veggies, lots of salads, fruits, fish for dinner, whole grain bread, desserts only on FHE night or the weekend, etc. I've also been counting calories, I currently get 1200 a day. I don't write it down, because that doesn't work for me, I just keep a running total in my head and love it.

I'VE LOST 5 POUNDS IN 2 WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess what we're doing is working! One of my secrets is V8 Vegetable Juice. I love it!!!!!!! Plus, it only has 50 calories in an 8 oz. serving. Whenever I get an urge to drink some juice, I just pull out my trusty V8 and it satisfies me until dinner. And since I'm really the only one in the house that likes it, it is always in the fridge. My other secret is to have a good start in the morning. Jamen and I get up at 5:30 every morning to work out and it's really becoming a habit. Then, I always eat a breakfast that is no more than 300 calories. Usually I eat a bowl of oatmeal with an english muffin-YUMMY!!!!!!! In the past, I'd eat a bowl full of cereal, which was at least 800 calories. Not anymore! 800 calories is more than half of the entire day's worth of calories. Totally not worth it!

Sweets are starting to make me sick. For example, today I had a sour cream glazed cake donut, which we love, but when I got done eating it (a whole 370 calories later) I felt guilty and gross inside. I'll stick to strawberries, oranges, carrots, green peppers, and yogurt for snacks. Date night is tonight, so I do plan on splurging a little....but I think every diet needs a little splurge every now and then.

I'm so excited that all this weight loss stuff has finally clicked in my head!

My goal is to be down to 192 by March 20th!

update....

I'm on the 3rd week of P90X and still loving it. Not yet seeing results I want, but I know the reason for that.........it's all about what you eat. Dang, why can't I have self-discipline when it comes to eating.

P90X

I found my new favorite workout program: P90X! It kicks my butt, but as Jamen says, "It's not working if you don't hurt after!" And I totally believe him! I've done the workouts for 3 days now and I actually enjoy the burn. I started with abs and cardio, then the next day I did biceps and back, and tonight I did legs and back-boy did my legs burn like crazy! Hopefully this new approach to working out will pay off in the long run. PLUS, in case you were wondering, I've been curbing my appetite at night which really does make a difference!

In a rut.....but trudging along!

For the past 2 weeks now, I've been getting up at 5:30 a.m. and working out on my elliptical. I love the wee hours of the morning with just me, the TV, and sweat. I've been trying to get up at 5:30 for the past 2 years, but was never able to pry my sleepy body out of bed. However, now that I've saved my cleaning for the mornings, instead of night, it somehow helps me get up. Gives me motivation or something! Go figure! I also love the fact that I can clean and shower without kids whining at me. So peaceful. Anyway, even though I'm doing all this, I'm still in a rut. I can't get myself to watch what I eat. So frustrating. The only thing I've found to stop me from eating, is to not buy the stuff that looks good. Seriously......the only thing that works. I guess it's still good that I'm still trying and not just coasting.

Who would've thought.....

Who would've thought that surgery would make me gain weight instead of lose! I mean, I didn't eat for 3 days, only ice chips, and then for 2 days after that, it was strictly clear liquids and bland foods! Anyway, just had to share my frustrations.....

Yippeeeeeeeeee......

Since my last post, almost 6 months ago, I've made considerable progress, slow, but considerable none-the-less! I'm now down to 196! And my goal was to get below 200, I did it! I'm aware that it is taking me a long time to lose even a little weight, but all I care about is that I'm losing and not gaining! It feels so good to take control of my life and working towards getting a healthier me! If you'd like, you can track my journey in working up to running a 5K! I won't be running competitively or anything, but I'd like to prove to myself that I can do it, and I really want to get back into running! Believe it or not, I used to be a pretty good runner in college! So far, I'm on day 2 of my first week of training and I'm battling back pain, and horrible shin splints, I mean very painful! Jamen said that he felt the same way when he was getting back into shape, so I just need to make it past these next few weeks and get my body past the shock of exercise!
