I'm not perfect...

I've gotta post this.

Since most of you think I'm just sailing through this dieting thing....think again.  I definitely have my setbacks and today was one of them.

See, it was my birthday today.  I did stick to my diet all day, then my family surprised me with a fudge cake and it was heavenly, in fact, I might go back for a few more bites...it was that heavenly!  And my hubby got my favorite, Hot Tomales and Cherry Pepsi, and yes I ate them and drank it.

So, I'm not perfect, but I have every intention and goal of getting right back on the calorie counting band wagon tomorrow morning.  There are times when I like to celebrate life too, and celebrating always includes yummy chocolatey food!

Biggest Loser Weigh-In.

Are you ready for this?

At the Biggest Loser Weigh-In this morning, I was down 7 pounds from last Saturday!  7 POUNDS!!!!!!!  That alone totally gives me motivation to keep going with my diet.  (I really shouldn't say diet, it really is a lifestyle change for me and my family)  I spent the day celebrating my birthday (a few days early) with friends and my hubby!  We took the kids to Panda Express for lunch, then I did some shopping (got me a new purse), and then went to dinner at Goucho's, the new Brazilian Steakhouse here in Logan!  It was fabulous being with friends and my hubby!  I definitely went way over my calorie allowance, but I am sooooooo excited to start the week off right tomorrow by getting right back on!  I have been in such a good mood today!

Just had to share......

Biggest Loser competition.

Tonight I'm feeling a lot of emotions:  fear, excitement, doubt, fear, impatience.  See, today I committed to be a part of Utah State University Housing's Biggest Loser Competition.  I weighed-in in front of a crowd of people, I weighed-in at 182.  I'm planning on using the Zone Diet.  That's the diet I used when I was involved with the Crossfit Body Fat Competition.  I lost 15 pounds on it.  There was also a guest speaker at the weight-in, you may have heard of her...........Burgandy Keel from Season 10 of the Biggest Loser.

She said some pretty motivational things, but right now the 2 things that stuck in my head are:

1) You need to drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water per day.
2) Losing weight is not going to make you happy, YOU make you happy.  I've realized that I need to work on my attitude a lot.

I know this journey isn't going to be easy, in fact I'm counting on it being hard, really hard.  But I really want this.  I want to take control of my life again.  I want to feel confident in myself and I want the change.

So, for the next 10 weeks I will be changing......my body and my mind.

in all honesty.

I have been struggling lately with dieting...so much so that I bought a HUGE Reeces candy bar the other day and ate the entire thing in one afternoon.  I felt so sick afterwards, but I just couldn't stop myself, it tasted so good.  I really have been trying to keep sweets out of our house and I've been doing really good, just some days I really want my favorite candy or dessert.  I'm not going to sit here and promise that I won't eat sweets anymore, because I know I will, but part of me just needs to be honest.  Aside from the huge candy bars, I've been eating very well, so no worries there.....later!

woohoooooo!!!!!!

So, back in October when I did the body fat competition with my Crossfit gym, I ended at 37.4% body fat. Well, I went in to Crossfit today and checked my body fat and guess what?........I was at 36.2%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm super stoked!  Honestly the only thing I've been doing is trying to eat healthy.  My current favorite "after workout meal" is a chocolate protein shake.....

Chocolate Protein Shake

1 banana
1 cup water
1 1/2 tsp all natural peanut butter
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
8 or 9 ice cubes

Along with my protein shake, I eat a baby bel and a handful of dark chocolate cocoa roast almonds.  So good!  I also pushed myself in the workout tonight.  We did overhead squats with weight....I squated with 35 lbs.  That doesn't sound so bad, but it was tough for me.  I'm glad I pushed myself instead of going with the 15 lbs that I was originally going to do.

big big big big accomplishment today.

Did you catch the title of this post?  BIG accomplishment today at Crossfit!  I used to use the 8" box for box jumps, but today I braved it and moved up to the 14" box!  The first few jumps I was scared out of my mind that I would biff it in front of a lot of people, but after 90 box jumps, I was feeling pretty darn comfortable.  I don't know how long it will be before I move up to the 20" box, but hopefully not too long. So, yay for me, I'm way excited and proud of myself!  (and thanks to my friend Debbie for assuring me I could do it!)

I highly recommend the "sick during Christmas break" diet!

Seriously, I got sick 2 days before Christmas.....laid in bed all day feeling awful....ate a handful of gross food (nothing tasted good).....and guess what?  I came home from Christmas break not one pound heavier. Lovin' it!  Now tomorrow, it's back to working out daily and eating healthy.  I threw the Christmas candy away....and we have fresh fruits and veggies in the fridge....bring it on!
